International Participation and Travel Grants

NEW: WELS offers two different grant schemes.

First, the «Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Travel Grant» which is now open for further applicants.

Second, the «International Participation and Travel Grants» which was communicated earlier this year, see below.

Please note, if you have already applied to the second scheme, you do not need to apply for the second one again. We try to provide participation and travel grants as best possible.

1. Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Travel Grant

The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is an intergovernmental not-for-profit organisation located in Singapore. For more information, please visit the www.ASEF.org.

The ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • Citizen of any of the 51 Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) partner countries : Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lao PDR, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mongolia, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom and Viet Nam.
  • Proficient English skills (oral and written)
  • An interest and solid knowledge in Teacher Education, Educational Leadership and Secondary Level Education Sector
  • Keen interest in intercultural exchanges, expansion of networks and school cooperation across Asia and Europe

Note: You do not need to be registered for the Symposium to apply for the grant. If your application is approved, you’ll will be able to register for free.

 

2. International Participation and Travel Grants

Thanks to the generous support by a foundation, the number of scholarships for participants from middle- and low-income countries was increased for this year’s conference. The grant may cover the registration fee and travel costs up to 1000 CHF, depending on actual costs. The deadline for applications for the first round is March 31, and for the second round is April 21, and for the last round is May 15, 2019 (if funding ressources are still available).

For participants applying for a travel grant, who are interested in submitting a proposal for the English parallel programme, please do so by May 15, 2019 (which is also the deadline for the travel grant).

 

The countries eligible for the grants are:

  • African countries
  • Asian countries (with following exceptions: Brunei Darussalam, Hong Kong SAR, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Macau SAR, Qatar, Singapore, UAE)
  • Latin American countries
  • and the following countries in wider Europe: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, FYR of Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine.
